Join Us October 3!
In 1997, a
small group of volunteers decided to bring a Komen Race for the Cure® series event to the Wabash Valley. That inaugural Race, held at the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College campus, raised $30,000 with the help of local sponsors and 800 participants.
In 1999, the Wabash Valley Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation was established to create a year-round presence in the Wabash Valley. The Race for the Cure®, held every October, remains the signature event, but many other activities to promote fundraising, education, and recognition are sponsored by the affiliate and its corporate partners.
Over the last 11 years, the affiliate has raised more than $1 million and granted more than $750,000 to local healthcare providers to provide support to women and men diagnosed with breast cancer. More than $250,000 has been contributed to the national research grant program of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
The Komen Wabash Valley Race for the Cure® is the largest 5K event in the Wabash Valley and we anticipate welcoming more than 3,000 participants to the Race on Saturday, October 3, 2009.
This is an opportunity for you to join our efforts as we raise funds for the people of the Wabash Valley!
SAVING LIVES WITH CHANGE!!!!!
This year the Wabash Valley Affiliate is committed to putting an end to breast cancer more than ever. You can help us by pledging to SAVE LIVES WITH CHANGE. It is so easy, all you have to do is email your friends, family, co-workers, and neighbors and ask them for their tax-deductible donation. If every participant collected at least $100.00 we could raise over $300,000.00! The best part yet is that you don't even have to be a participant to join our effort. Remember that every penny counts! To get started, connect to our fundraising page and add this link to your website. For every participant that registers on-line for the race, your own personal fundraising page will be created. Saving Lives with CHANGE |
